It would be appropriate to introduce myself and explain why I'm going to blog.... for my first blog.
I am an emergency management student. I have a B.S., M.S., and trying my darndest to get a DSc in Emergency Management. I love this work, and I love this area of research. It is so rewarding to be a part of planning for devastation and helping communities bounce back after something so terrible has happened. I can't imagine another line of work (though it took me many to finally decide on this one! Apparently, I'm indecisive.).
I have been told many times that it seems I have all the connections and have been "lucky" with my experiences in such a short period of time in emergency management. But the truth is... I worked my REAR off to get where I am! I took chances. I traveled. I worked for a dBag for 3 years. I changed my life. And I earned every minute of experience and every ounce of pride!
So I want to share that with other EM students and career hopefuls so they can get inspired and motivated to do the things I have, AND MORE! I am still a student. So I have a long way to go and lots to do. Hopefully hearing about what I have done, and what I do during the course of this blog will help SOMEONE out there....... or at least entertain them. Or at the VERY least... make my dad proud (HEY DAD!).
I also hope to generate some discussion among other students (once I figure out how to do all this blog stuff). I am also hoping this blog helps me in whatever dissertation I eventually throw myself into, and ultimately help me with my career as well. Good luck to you all! And thanks for visiting! = )
